Product Description
Glass beads from Afghanistan. These beads are made from ancient Roman glass, found in the Nimroz province of Afghanistan. The glass is between 900 & 1200 years old, and was excavated approximately 10 years ago. Glass has not been produced in this area for 900 years. As with all handmade beads, please expect slight imperfections in size, shape and color. Expect chips and cracks as this is the nature of these particular beads.

I bought these both for the age, because Roman glass sound so cool, and the color. The blue is not a "hit you in the eye" bright blue, but a lovely subtle blue that can be enhanced with modern blue beads. I am working on a necklace combining these beads with aquamarine beads and silver beads plus some little brighter blue beads.
